Planning Approved for Uplands Community College

We are excited to announce that planning has been approved for the redevelopment of Uplands Community College. This project marks a significant milestone in enhancing the educational facilities for our community.

Project Overview

The approved plan includes the construction of a new two-storey building, seamlessly integrated within the existing school campus. Designed to accommodate 950 students aged 11 to 18, this new facility will provide state-of-the-art educational spaces tailored to the needs of modern teaching and learning.

New Building Features

The new building will feature:

  • 14 Classrooms: Modern, well-equipped spaces designed to support a variety of teaching methods and learning styles.
  • Specialist Teaching Areas: Rooms specifically designed for subjects requiring specialized equipment and environments, such as science laboratories, art studios, and technology workshops.
  • Main Campus Facilities:
    • Main Reception: A welcoming entrance that will serve as the central hub for visitors and students.
    • Administrative Spaces: Offices and workspaces to support the school’s administrative and support staff.
    • Main Hall and Dining Area: A versatile space that will serve as a dining hall and can be used for assemblies, performances, and other large gatherings. The dining area will include a fully-equipped catering facility to provide meals for students and staff.

Phased Demolition and Construction

To make way for this new development, there will be a phased demolition of the existing Blocks A and L. The careful planning of this demolition will ensure minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations. Once these blocks are removed, construction of the new building will commence, replacing outdated facilities with modern, purpose-built educational spaces.

Looking Ahead

We congratulate everyone involved in achieving this planning approval. With this approval, we now eagerly anticipate the commencement of construction work on site. This development represents a significant investment in the future of our students and the broader community, providing them with the resources and environment they need to thrive.
