As seen above the build is well into the final stages now with some last minute touches being made before opening in September.
The new Mayfield School replaces the former building on the same site and will have capacity for it’s 1,510 pupils.
The original school was built in the 1930s with separate halves for boys and girls. Since then the school has become mixed and an all-through school for children aged between four and 16.
The existing facilities were no longer suitable for a modern curriculum and requiring ongoing maintenance and repair to continue running.
Mayfield School will be an ‘All-Through’ school catering for pupils from Nursery to Secondary ages.
Included in the design of the new building are outdoor sports pitches and an innovative STEAM Centre focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. Subjects that use creative methods of learning.
