Freshwater Primary Construction Begins
The construction of the new school will replace the All Saints CofE Primary School on School Green Road. The site has been used for a school for more than 150 years with the original school building being constructed in the 1860’s.
The proposed development will accommodate pupils from Yarmouth CofE Primary School and Little Stars Nursery while at the same time retain the existing Freshwater Early Years Centre. The school will provide places for 105 pupils aged between 4 and 11 and also allow additional accommodation should expansion be required in the future up to a maximum of 210 pupils.
Freshwater Primary Construction Begins
The 13,035 sq ft development, which received unanimous approval from planners last November, is single-storey and features seven classrooms, design and technology suites, a larger indoor hall and enhanced sports provision.
Carla Bradshaw, chair of governors at Yarmouth CE (VA) Primary School, said,
“We are really pleased that the project is moving forward and we will be excited to see work begin in the coming weeks.
“Our pupils and staff deserve to learn and work in the best education facilities possible. The new school will make that a reality.”
Construction is due to be completed in November this year.
