Prior to it’s opening ITV News visited the new secondary school and got this very glowing report from both students and staff, including the Harry Potter style staircase!
Barton Manor School Opens
Executive Headteacher Kirstin Cardus told ITV News Meridian: “We built this school on the same ethos and culture as the grammar school. This allows us to share the best leaders, the best teachers, the best support staff and the best practice. It allows us to develop high standards of education for all.”
Students on Thursday and Friday took part in a wide variety of lessons including Maths, English, Science, PE, DT, Drama, French, History and RE as well as enjoying a school tour to see all the new fabulous state-of-the-art facilities.
The new secondary school includes a large theatre, sports hall, dance studio, science laboratories, music rooms and two libraries.
The first intake of 150 year 7 students started life at the school on Monday with more cohorts joining yearly until the school reaches it’s capacity at 1050 pupils.
Well done to all the design team on the continued hard work throughout the build to deliver this amazing new school for the pupils of Canterbury.
