The ceremony was attended by representatives from Noviun Architects, the client, Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, and the contractor, Kier Construction. The event was an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the start of this important project, which will provide a new three-story teaching block housing a new main hall and black-box drama studio, as well as the School’s DT, Modern Foreign Languages, and Math departments.

Also part of the scheme is the new Activity Block containing activity studio, pupil and staff changing rooms and a new energy centre for the site as it drives towards net zero carbon in operation for the whole campus going forward.

At the ceremony, speeches were made by representatives from Kier Construction and Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, who highlighted the importance of the project for the school and the wider community. The groundbreaking itself was performed by representatives from the school and the contractor, using traditional shovels to mark the start of construction.

The scheme comprises a mix of new build and refurbishment elements, as well as extensive improvements to the hard and soft landscaping, to meet the future needs and vision of the school, whilst also helping meet the Government’s net zero target.

Noviun Architects is proud to be involved in this project, which will provide the students of Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School with state-of-the-art facilities to support their education and wellbeing. We look forward to working closely with the client and contractor to deliver this project on time and on budget.

In conclusion, the Breaking Ground ceremony for the Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School project was a momentous occasion, marking the start of an important project that will benefit the school and the wider community. Noviun Architects is excited to be part of this project and looks forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.
