We are pleased to announce that our latest SEND school, Luminous Oak, has received planning permission.
Located in Boorley Green, this two-storey school will cater for 125 pupils aged eight to sixteen. The new school includes external play areas, specialised teaching spaces including the ‘Eden Room’ for instruction and therapy.
The project also includes sensory and therapy rooms, small group rooms and soft play sensory rooms. Luminous Oak forms part of the county council’s plan to create 1,000 new special needs places in Hampshire by 2030.
Sharon Burt, chief executive officer of Solent Academies Trust, said:
“We are delighted that planning permission has been granted by Hampshire County Council’s regulatory committee for our new special free school in Boorley Green.
“We are eager to move forward with the next phases of the project, with construction set to commence shortly.
“Additionally, we look forward to initiating staff recruitment for Luminous Oak Academy in the summer term, beginning with the appointment of a principal for the new school.”
The new school is set to open in September 2026.
