Harris Primary Academy, Purley Way

The whole community strive for Harris Primary Academy Purley Way to be best it can possibly be which is encapsulated by the school vision statement: “Excellence for All”.

Initially opening as a Free-School, the academy has the potential to be a 3 form-entry school in the future.

The challenge faced by the architects was to fit this demanding timetable of activities into a very limited amount of accommodation. This was achieved by means of an open plan arrangement where possible, and providing built-in flexibility to enable the spaces to be adapted to suit the needs of the users.

Completed in Autumn 2017, the school welcomed 60 Reception children who joined 240 children. The children have a fantastic learning environment inside a bright, airy, modern building which has the latest interactive teaching and learning facilities.

The Harris Primary Academy was based on the Sunesis Dewey design which won the award for product innovation at the Offsite Construction Awards.
