Noviun are delighted to be working with Tilbury Douglas on a new Secondary School building for the Hemel Hempstead School.
The new building on the existing site of the school will include provisions for new Classrooms, Staff Offices, DT Workshops, and Art Rooms.
The new building occupies a prominent position on site along the central north-south axis, reinforcing this as the main pupil route between buildings. The new build position facing the original and dominant existing Main Block better defines the top playing field by framing and enclosing this space, creating a new external quadrangle. The 3-storey new build replaces four single-storey blocks and two 2-storey blocks with a more efficient building footprint, creating a net gain in external spaces.
In response to the consultation and development carried out during the feasibility stage, the proposed site arrangement consists of a new three-storey school building located to the South of the main lawn, parallel to the existing row of mature trees and facing the Main Block heritage asset.
