With state-of-the-art learning and sports facilities, the new Compass School building will facilitate fantastic education for the young people of Bermondsey.
The new Compass School will be an integral part of the wider master plan for the area following approval from the Mayor of London.
From Science labs to a rooftop multi-use games arena and exception visual and performing arts facilities, the new Compass School is an inspiring learning environment, with everything pupils need to thrive.
The Grosvenor Britain and Ireland masterplan will transform the area into a modern cosmopolitan setting with community at the centre.
Headteacher Marcus Huntley said: “It’s a fantastic day for our community and those who have fought for our pupils’ right to have the very best facilities.”
“We are a resilient community and despite occupying temporary premises for the past 7 years, have made the most of our facilities and ensured our pupils receive a high standard of education.”
“Now we look forward to an even brighter future for the school, continuing to build on our aspirations, achievements and academic success.”
Construction is due to begin Summer 2021 after a successful bid process this past September.
We will bring more updates on this project as the scheme develops. You can find out more about the school project at the Compass School Southwark website.
